Purty tile

One of my favorite designers, Charlotte Carothers, did an amazing job on this Master bath. I finally had a chance to go check it out this morning and it is one of my favorites yet. The picture does not do it justice, because it was taken with my iphone. But sometime soon when the project is further along I will go take professional pictures and post them.

The floor tile is "Smoke" limestone from Artistic Tile. This stone is so soft, not just in color but literally soft to the touch. It has a wax finish and comes in 12x24, 12x12, 5/8x5/8 (shown on shower floor) and 5/8x4". We paired it up with Calcutta Gold in the shower and tub front.

Being 'Mixed-Up' Never looked so good!

The geniuses at Mixed-Up Mosaics in New York City have done it again! These mosaic masters can create a dazzling glass mosaic mural of ANYTHING, and their geometric patterns are stunning. Equally great in homes as they are in bars, restaurants, hotels, etc....AND they can usually ship out a custom sample in 24 hours. Not much to say but "Wow!"

Shown left is the "stripes" pattern above the chair rail with matching 12x12 tile below the chair rail.

Shown in the middle is the "grass" pattern....perfectly soothing in a spa bath.

Shown on the bottom is a custom mosaic mural that is 8' wide and 8' tall...the detail is simply amazing.

Now what mosaic can YOU dream up???

Follow the Yellow Brick Road...

Emerald City Press is a cute little coffee/flower/news stand across from Cheapo's Records on North Lamar. For you older Austinites, you may recall that this building was actually Back-in-a-Flash. As a kid I marveled at the use of the dumb waiter...up went the film down came the photos.

This building has been relatively empty since Back-n-Flash closed this location. It's so nice to see a fresh idea take over an old building...ahhhh....new life.

Owner Emily Fleming-Nash & designer Ann Tucker of Ann Tucker Studio came and visited me one day with a vision. A vision of green tile. There was no way to imagine that something this beautiful would come from that day. (btw-my fav. color is green) No, really, I am not tooting my own horn....go by and get a coffee, see it for yourself, it's pretty. And the coffee's pretty yummy too!

Now for the specifics.....We selected a Busby Gilbert Tile, Arabesque shape in Jade Green. There is a nice range in color which adds depth and movement. Since this tile is made to order, this shape can come in a number of different colors!

Come for the wonderful beverages, stay and ogle the beautiful tiles

We've taken some photos of recently completed projects, and these 2 have a lot in common....both are commercial spaces with delectable drinks (and yummy food) and both have used beautiful tile from Architerra!

First is Taste Select Wines located in the booming downtown Austin 2nd street district. This beautiful shop is the first in the state to offer self-serve samples. In addition to the retail shop, the wine bar boasts a kitchen that offers tapas as well as small and large plates for lunch or dinner....and of course, great happy hour specials.

Featured at the bar and in the restrooms is Jazz Glass Mosaic in 'Red Hot Mama' from Artistic Tile. The sparkling rich reds just make you want to sip on a glass of pinot noir...it is truly a stunning feature of the design.

And now stay tuned for Shannon's project...mmmm, yummy coffee....
